Professional Information Issues

Course Objectives:


The course aims to give an introduction and compendium of ethical, legal, cultural and professional issues relating to the era of computers and information.

Course Content:


1. Unlimited spread of computers in our contemporary world.
2. The information age: the abundance of information flow, the Internet.
3. Areas of computers in the modern world: banks, electronic commerce, government departments, medicine, education, leisure and entertainment, business law, communications, means of travel and transport.
4. An overview of the legal aspects: the intellectual property of software, software contracts and legal liability, privacy and the Data Protection Act, computer misuse.

Skills expected from this course:
Upon finishing of this course the student is expected tounderstands the aspects of IT issues and the importance of commitment to work which include the following:
1. Ethical and social aspects.
2. Legal aspects.
3. Cultural aspects.
4. Professional aspects.
