Principles of Information Technology

Course Objectives:

This course teaches the fundamental of information technology and the software used in IT solutions.

Course Content:

  1. Understanding the concept of data, information & knowledge.
  2. Introduction to Software
  3. Role of communications and networks in motivating information technology.
  4. The benefits of information technology in new (digital) society.
  5. The importance of monitoring the development of IT as a field.
  6. Ethics of specialization.    Skills expected from this course:

     Upon finishing this course, the student should:

  1. Understand the basics of IT which will include the ability to define the term "Information Technology".
  2. Knowing which science that affects IT, which is: 
    1. Computer Science,
    2. Information System and
    3. Computer Engineer.

  3. Determine the areas directly affected by information technology.
  4. Understanding of software applications and Information Technology, which include:

5. - Establishing a database using simple descriptions
     given.

  1. Use SQL to search the database.
  2. The use of desktop productivity tools.
