About the Department

The reason of establishment of the Department of Computer and Information Technology is to keep adapting to new developments taking place in information technology field in the world.  Also to produce distinguished students in the field of information technology to serve the community and increase the Saudi workforce equipped with information technology, knowledge and skills necessary to achieve sustainable development. Studying the sciences relevant to information technology attracted the attention of Saudi students and the community. The Department of Computer and Information Technology provides pioneering programs and hire distinguished professors. The Department seeks to raise the level of scientific research and teaching linked to the environment and the needs of local and regional as well as disseminate knowledge and promote research collaboration with local institutions and regional and international management. The department in order to get many projects, including: parallel processing laboratory, a laboratory project, multimedia, parallel processing center project, and the project "multimedia convergence" as one of the projects of the European Community (Tempus) and so on. The Department seeks to focus on the needs of the national credits and the accreditations ABET: special program of technical information and outputs and other appropriations. Department is composed of three divisions: the Information Systems (IS) Division and the Division of Information Technology (IT) and the Division of Management Information Systems (MIS)

      The department will play a prominent role in providing programs of study , research and consulting in IT field, as well as in Management Information Systems (MIS) at the regional level.

Mission:
     Department of Computer and Information Technology will provide programs of study, research and high level consultation.
